Overview
RITE POS manages your medicine inventory with batch-level precision. Every product can have multiple stock batches, each with its own expiry date, quantity, and cost price. Stock is automatically deducted when a sale is made and restored when a return is processed.
Adding a New Product
Navigate to the Products tab from the bottom navigation bar. Tap the + button at the top right to add a new product.
Basic Information
Enter the medicine name (required), brand/manufacturer, and select or create a category (e.g., Antibiotic, Dermatology, OTC).
Barcode
Tap the barcode field and scan the barcode from the medicine packaging, or type it manually. This enables barcode scanning at the POS.
Pricing
Enter the Sale Price (MRP) and Cost Price. The cost price is used for profit margin calculations and is never shown to customers.
Tax Rate (HSN & GST)
Select the GST tax rate: 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, or 28%. Enter the HSN code. This is used for the HSN-wise tax summary on GST invoices. Most OTC drugs are at 12%; prescription medicines vary.
Initial Stock Batch
Enter the batch number, expiry date, and initial quantity. The cost price for this batch can differ from the default (useful when you buy at different prices from different suppliers).
Low Stock Threshold
Set the minimum quantity before an alert is triggered. Default is 5. When stock falls below this number, the product appears on the dashboard alert and turns amber in the product list.
Batch & Expiry Tracking
RITE POS supports multiple simultaneous batches per product. This is critical for pharmacies receiving the same medicine from different deliveries with different expiry dates.
- Each batch has: Batch Number, Expiry Date, Quantity in stock, Cost Price, and Entry Date
- When selling, RITE POS uses FEFO (First Expiry First Out) â the batch expiring soonest is deducted first
- To view all batches for a product, open the product detail and tap "View Batches"
- To add a new batch (received a new shipment), tap "+ Add Batch" in the product detail
Editing & Updating a Product
In the Products screen, tap any product to open it. Then tap the edit (pencil) icon. You can update:
- Name, category, barcode, HSN code
- Sale price, cost price, tax rate
- Low stock threshold
- Active/Inactive status â inactive products don't appear in POS search
Tap the three-dot menu on any product card for quick actions: Edit, Adjust Stock, View Batches, or Deactivate.
Manual Stock Adjustment
Sometimes you need to correct stock levels â after a physical count, for wastage, or to correct an error. Use Adjust Stock:
- Open the product, tap "Adjust Stock"
- Enter the adjustment amount (positive to add, negative to deduct)
- Select a reason: Received from supplier, Physical count correction, Damaged/expired, Other
- The adjustment is recorded in the audit log with reason, amount, and your employee ID
Importing Products via CSV
If you have an existing product list in a spreadsheet, you can import it into RITE POS:
Download the template
Go to Products â More â Import CSV â Download Template. Fill the template with your product data.
Required columns
Name, Price, CostPrice, Quantity, Category, TaxRate. Optional: Barcode, HSN, ExpiryDate, BatchNumber, LowStockThreshold.
Import & review
Tap Import, select your file. RITE POS shows a preview of the records to be imported. Review errors (if any) then confirm.
Managing Categories
Categories organize your medicines in both the POS and the product list. To manage categories:
- Go to Products â Categories (accessible from the filter/sort area)
- Create new categories with a name and color
- Rename or reorder existing categories
- Categories appear as filter chips in the POS screen for fast browsing
Combo Products
A combo product is a bundle of multiple medicines sold together as a kit (e.g., a diabetic care kit with a glucometer and strips). When you sell a combo:
- Stock of each component product is deducted proportionally
- The combo has its own price, which may be less than the sum of components (bundle discount)
- To create: Products â + â "Combo Product" â select components and quantities
